I am a Republican who firmly believes that the Black Lives Matter is a violent organization. I hate what’s been happening with these ‘protests’ and riots. This is no way to protest. People should not be rioting and looting. If you want to protest, you must do so PEACEFULLY.

And before y’all start saying, “Oh yah? Then tell me exactly how black people should protest in this country!“, don’t worry, I’m going to offer 5 perfectly legitimate and effective ways in which these protests could have gained the traction needed to force the hand of the so called ‘system’.

Option #1: Assembling Peacefully

I feel like this is an obvious step. Why did BLM’s very first march have to turn violent and lead to looting? Why didn’t black Americans orchestrate PEACEFUL demonstrations following any of the string of police-related killings of black men starting back in 2014? In my humble opinion, I think BLM organizers should have, well, organized in public spaces following these deaths and peacefully protested. Surely, this would have led to reform and you would have had America’s unwavering support.

Option #2: Leveraging Black NFL Athletes

Isn’t the NFL filled with a ton of black athletes or something? If these police killings are serious enough, wouldn’t some of these black athletes care enough to try shedding some light on the issue? Don’t most Americans watch Football? These guys have a MASSIVE platform and the attention of the entire country. Why didn’t any of them protest PEACEFULLY? Literally, any of one them (if they wanted to) could have, I don’t know, like taken a knee or something prior to every game in silent protest. If this had happened, I’m POSITIVE that Trump and his entire tribe would have had NO issues with the protest. Surely, this would have led to reform and you would have had America’s unwavering support.

Option #3: Social Media Advocacy

Believe it or not, one way to protest is via social media platforms. I can’t believe BLM never employed this method at a legitimate means of protest. There isn’t a doubt in my mind that had Black Lives Matter taken to Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc, they would have gained literally millions of advocates for their cause across the nation. Had they peacefully mobilized online, they would have met little resistance and no one would have tried to diminish the movement with, I don’t know a counter hashtag saying ‘All Lives Matter’. We would have completely and totally supported your PEACEFUL online advocacy efforts. Surely, this would have led to reform and you would have had America’s unwavering support.

Option #4: Hollywood Celebrities

Hollywood is arguably one of America’s most influential and powerful institutions. Time and again, it has defined and established the very cultural fabric of America for generations. There must have been at least a handful of people who support BLM. Had these people publicly (AND PEACEFULLY) displayed some form of solidarity for the movement, I’m positive that America would have appreciated their advocacy with open arms and ears. We would NEVER react with the, “Your job is to act and entertain me. Keep your politics out of this.” retort. If only these people spoke up. Surely, this would have led to reform and you would have had America’s unwavering support.

Option #5: Private Corporations

Listen, Trump and his supporters are NOT racist. We support PEACEFUL protests. If private companies like, I don’t know, Ben & Jerry’s took a position on the BLM movement, we would understand and appreciate and support their form of protest (BECAUSE IT’S PEACEFUL). We would NEVER threaten to boycott such companies for PEACEFULLY showing their solidarity. If only private companies took a stand. Surely, this would have led to reform and you would have had America’s unwavering support.

If black Americans employed all — actually, if they employed at least like one or two of the aforementioned methods to no avail, then, and ONLY THEN would I be fully understanding of the escalations in protests and riots.

If you enjoy discussing politics, I want to invite you to join my Facebook group – Civil Political Discourse. Facebook interviewed me personally back in October, 2020, and commended me for being able to host healthy, political conversations. My group is sorely lacking a robust Democratic/Progressive presence, so if you fall on the left side of the isle, I doubly encourage you to join.
